A "compilation" is a recording comprising material drawn from various previously issued items. For example, there have been many highlights discs compiled from the D'Oyly Carte complete opera recordings.
Because there are so many compilations, they are presented on four separate pages:
From Vintage Recordings (ca. 1906-1936)|
From the D'Oyly Carte Sets (1949-1979)
From the Sargent/EMI Sets
From Other Sources (G&S For All, New D'OC, etc.)
- There is a separate index of overture discs.
- The concerted highlights index lists original recordings (not derived from other sources) comprising material from multiple operas.
- The solo recitals index lists recordings devoted to the work of a single performer.
- The instrumental index lists recordings of instrumental (non-vocal) highlights.
